Location: Lies on the West Fork of the San Jacinto River just west of Interstate Highway 45 off State Highway 105 in Montgomery and Walker counties.

Description: In classic East Texas Piney Woods forests, this reservoir supplies water for municipal and industrial use. Water quality generally is good, fairly clear, with
a maximum depth of 75 feet.

Comments: Over time, this has been one of the most controversial lakes in Texas. It was once choked with hydrilla, an equatic plant that restricts access, and over the
objections of Texas Parks and Wildlife fisheries analysts, grass carp were introduced. This species removed the hydrilla problem but in so doing, also ruined habitat for
game fish. Since then, concerned citizens have been trying to re-establish fish habitat.
